Far at the seams of the horizon

where the sky dips down to kiss the earth

their union so clear yet so obscure

both coalesced, merged

sewn neatly together as one

yet separated

each sustaining its identity

their love such, that once

men feared to cross their union

feared it was the end of both

the earth and the sky

what they knew not was

love doth not build, no boundaries

love doth not know, no ends

it goes on and on

like the never ending junction of the sky

with the earth

and after every ardent kiss they share

the throngs of passion they build

weaving the veil of darkness, overnight

when spent, contended

the sky calls up the sun

to spill some light

and bathe the earth with beauty

the photons cling to her mane of green

and the silk of her blue

the sky glows, proud of her

and falls in love

yet once again

And when men stride down

the face of the earth

smearing blood over her lush

mane of green

staining her smooth silken blue

strewing the stretch of her dignity

with undignified flesh

they call upon themselves the wrath

the curse of the sky, her lover

the sky summons the storm

to wash off all the filth

preserving the purity of his love

and once again

to sooth the wounded, bleeding earth

sun, the heart of the sky

pours down its love

and lulls her back to peace

free from the grime, the intruders

their union sparkles, clearly interlaced

after the storm resides.

  1. Delicious, just gorgeous. The message is beautiful, and the way you wrote this is colorful and gentle.

First time coming by, happy to have seen some of your blog.

  2. Breath taking poem… splendid imagination… the words paint pictures of a beautiful love story of the nature πŸ™‚ the fury over environmental degradation is just as passionate as the love for nature

  3. Sorry I haven’t been around much lately, but my book, The Bellman Chronicles, will be FREE to download on Sept. 10 – 11! Check it out on my Amazon Kindle page.. You won’t be disappointed. And if you can slip me a review, I’d be forever grateful…

  5. This is breathtakingly gorgeuous poetry Habiba! Loved the metaphor of earth and sky to have used to describe true love….it’s brilliant.
For now, it becomes my fav poem on your blog.
Gorgeous beyond words- “Far at the seams of the horizon where the sky dips down to kiss the earth…their union so clear yet so obscure..”
I can’t point out fav stanzas or lines here….it wud be too unfair on the poem. Each line stands out glowing with a beautiful light.
“The sun never says to the earth- you owe me. Look at what happens to a love like that. It lights up the whole sky!”

      1. My pleasure..! Yeah…even i had forgotten by whom it was …just remembered the lines i had read…and was too tired to google. πŸ™‚
Now, that u mentioned it…i remember. You may love poems of Khalil Gibran too…his philosophy in the poems are amazing!
